Sam Monroe is in the full throes of teen angst.An angry, self-loathing punk full of facial piercings, toying with drugs and turned on by self-asphyxiation.He listens to heavy metal and gothic music, dresses in black, wears makeup, does drugs, and is pondering selling his body for money.Can be described as Marilyn Manson wannabe who’s had his face pierced and pops pills all day long. Sam lives with his mom and George’s ex, Robin, various siblings and emotionally remote stepdad Peter in a much nicer house than George’s but one that, like every other abode in pic, hugs the coastline.

George’s life changes forever. He is fired from his job and diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Given only four months to live, George vows to accomplish his lifelong dream of building his dream house.

He recruits his son’s begrudging help for the summer. Over the course of the next few months, George attempts to mend his long-suffering relationship with the brooding and intense 16-year-old as they tear down the ramshackle shack and rebuild a monument to his dreams. The much maligned eyesore is transformed.

Alyssa helps to brighten Sam’s summer. Finally, it is Robin who begins to see a change in George and feels herself drawn back into the life of her longtime ex. Together Robin and Sam help George fulfill his goal as he rebuilds his house (and his life) before it is too late.

Together, the two set out to rebuild George’s house and their damaged relationship. Eventually George passes and gives the house to his new clean cut son Sam.Sam then goes to the accident victims house and gives the house to her.This movie is a real tearjerker but at the same time Hayden’s performance is outstanding!
